One chance at Pro Race

I was thinking that perhaps rather than have 3 shots at the pro race and being able to quit at anytime and restart so as to not count as a shot, that players get one chance. So for example once the gun goes if you quit, then you are scored a DNF (did not finish) just like in real sailing. Also it would eliminate players being able to try for their second and third shots knowing exactly where / when the wind shifts will be. You could perhaps retain the multiple shots in the standard league but pro would be made to be more “real world” racing - one shot.

This now exists in Pro - only 1 chance, and if you start but not finish, you get DNF.

I've been thinking about a way to accomodate all views. Perhaps there could be two rankings. The first leaderboard shows the results for the first attempt (being once the gun goes you either finish the race and are scored - or if you quit, you are scored a DNF). Then for those that want multiple attempts, a seperate leaderboard would allow say 3 attempts to improve their time. That way those who want the "classic" sailing experience of one shot at the race can get that with appropriate rankings while those that wish to have multiple attempts (with the benefit of advanced knowledge of windshifts etc.) can also have that.

I agree, but would like 5 starts rather than 1 finish. And perhaps the wind shifts should be a bit less devastating if you don't catch them- because you lose so much ground when the shifts are this severe.
