Prevent players from walking off the boat
Right now in BBB you can walk off the side of the boat and float above the water. It's cool in one sense b/c you can see the boat from the outside, but it breaks immersion. Maybe you can black out the screen when the player is out of bounds and display a "return to the boat" message, like how Vader Immortal does it?
Wind direction clues
I know you can always look up at the blue arrow to see which way the wind is blowing, but environmental clues are both more fun and more realistic. I'd love to see the wave-pattern on the water indicate the wind direction (fetch) perhaps with small white-caps. Maybe smoke rising from nearby islands and drifting with the wind and clouds moving according to the wind. Birds typically fly either into the wind or with the wind, but rarely across it. I'm not sure what other wind-clues would be good.
Add hands for grabbing the controls
For increased immersion. Could also have some minor items on the boat to be grabbed as well like a map or something.
Small boats on Big Breeze Boat
It's a little contradiction with the name of the game, but having small boats like in VR Regatta would be really nice on the Quest, with its wireless setup. Having to use the teleport breaks inmersion a lot. Big boats would be nice for coop
Compass by Helm
It would be great to have a compass by the Helm to see the direction of the boat when steering. You can't see the map from there. Perhaps you could make the arrow icon bigger on the map so you could see it.
Teleport bug fix
When pointing to teleport beacons far away, they sometimes flash instead of remaining solid and you cant select them. Non teleport movement would also be a nice feature.
Graphics Textures on the boat
The white boat hull and the black non-slip material look extremely "flat" to me, like untextured polygons. I think it would make the boat look MUCH better if there is any graphical texture applied.
Procedurally Generated Islands
This would give us infinite ocean to explore and keep the sim from getting stale.
